The 2030 Development Agenda and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) provides opportunities to rethink about the pathway we should be moving towards, in limiting the temperature increase to 1.5 oC. Climate change is under SDG 13. Looking closely at all the SDGs, we can see that climate change and climate induced disasters as well as mitigation measures are reflected in a number of SDGs, rather than specifically addressed only in a silo format of SDG 13.
Thailand has started the SDGs process and during the HLPF 2017, Thailand is one of the countries presenting the Voluntary National Review (VNR). Shadow reports are under preparation among CSOs closely following up the national process. This year 2017, there are shadow reports on SDGs 1, 5, 13, 14, 16 and CSOs Engagement Report.
Climate Watch Thailand and other CSOs, together join as a specific mission called HLPF Alliance in order to monitor the VNR reporting. A meeting to discuss VNR and shadow report between the government and HLPF Alliance was held on June 7, 2017, at the Conference Room of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
